Webber To Write 2009 Eurovision Entry

Andrew Lloyd Webber

Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber has made a statement lamenting Britain's shameful failure to win the Eurovision Song Contest since 1981.

The highly tongue-in-cheek video announcement included patriotic music, a union jack and a perhaps slightly misplaced JFK quote; "think not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country....by contacting our website."

The Lord called for a member of the British public to "do their duty" and perform the song which he will compose to bring the Eurovision crown home in 2009. With such classics as Timmy Mallet's cover version of 'Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini' amongst his back catalogue, Lloyd Webber is just the man to bring an end to Britain's pitiful Eurovision performance.

This is not the Lloyd Webber's first attempt to crack Eurovision. In 1967 he and Tim Rice wrote a song titled 'Try it and see' for the contest, they were unsuccessful.
