Hairspray: The School Musical
Hairspray: The School Musical Sky One's exclusive new reality programme that seeks to turn ordinary high school children in to West End stars launched last Sunday.
Veteran to this format and a West End star herself, Denise Van Outen hosts the brand new Sky One show that will attempt to cast the pupils of Kingsmead School in a production of Hairspray worthy of the West End. Vocal coach Zoe Tyler, associate producers for the school production Danny Austin, Ben Klein and choreographer Stacey Haines are all on hand to cast and train the lucky few, accompanied by the schools very own teachers.
Director of programming for Sky One, Two and Three explained just why we should tune in, "Hairspray: The School Musical will show all the emotions of the theatre; stage fright, crises in confidence, life changing accomplishments and tears of joy". If that wasn't enough big names from the stage and screen are rumoured to be on hand to help put the kids through their paces, similar to the guest mentors for Lloyd Webber's successful BBC searches for West End stars.
Running for the next seven weeks the show will culminate with the high school cast performing the hit musical on a stage at the Lyric Theatre. Can Van Outen and her team mould the raw talent of the young hopefuls in to professional performers in just seven weeks? Only time will tell and Show and Stay® will be there for the whole journey, so keep an eye on our blog for the latest news.
Don't forget that you can enjoy the professional production of Hairspray in the West End with a Show and Stay theatre break.
