Eurobeat Posts Early Closure Notice
Spoof musical, Eurobeat, has posted early closing notices at the Novello Theatre. The self proclaimed "world's first interactive musical" will now close on November 1st, two weeks earlier than originally intended.
The tongue-in-cheek musical satirises the Eurovision Song Contest and is hosted by children's TV presenter, 'Sergei' and Olympic pole-vault champion, cabaret performer and TV presenter, Boyka. The show's hilarious hosts are played by Les Dennis and Mel Giedroyc respectively.
The show was a success at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe after which it went on a UK tour, receiving positive reviews. The show assigns audience members to one of ten 'competing' countries and the audience are encouraged to vote for their favourite performances via text message. Each night a winner is chosen based on text message votes.
The show is the brainchild of Australians Andrew Patterson and Craig Christie and is produced and directed by Glynn Nicholas. It will be replaced at the Novello Theatre by the RSC's winter West End residency.
Eurobeat is now booking until 1st November 2008 at the Novello Theatre.
