Covent Garden To Host Christmas Delight
This festive season Covent Garden is trying something a little different. Christmas Delight, an unusual, compelling programme of music and entertainment events looks certain to charm Scrooges and Christmas aficionados alike.
United Visual Artists will be handling the illuminations. The group have previously produced stunning visual shows for the likes of Massive Attack and U2. In partnership with Covent Garden, UVA will create a spectacular Christmas light display which will be unlike any other.
Hundreds of LED tubes will be suspended inside Covent Garden's market building. At certain times, visitors to the historic London shopping and entertainment district will be able to take control of the lights and create unique patterns and displays of their own.
New musical talent will collaborate with UVA from 17 November to 22 December to create breathtaking musical and visual displays in a distinctly modern style. A more traditional show will be provided by the London Contemporary Orchestra ensuring there will be something to satisfy all tastes at this years Christmas Delight.
Keen shoppers will be pleased to know from 24 November until 21 December the Shop of Delight will offer an array of ways to have an affordable but fashionable Christmas. Each week the shop will take on a new theme, visitors can expect to learn how to make their own presents, bake festive treats and transform unwanted clutter into wonderful Christmas gifts.
Christmas Delight will be partnered with homeless charity, Crisis. Throughout the festive season Covent Garden will provide a variety of ways to raise money for this worthy cause.
