The Almeida Announce their Star-Studdied Schedule for 2009
Next year promises to be a real hit for theatregoers as the powers-that-be at The Almeida announce their new schedule.
Five premieres, two major revivals and a Shakespeare are planned for next year at the prestigious West End playhouse and some of the productions sound far too good to miss!
First of all, The Almeda is set to finish off 2008 with their version of In a Dark Dark House. Running until January 17th, In a Dark Dark House will be directed by Michael Attenborough and will star Steven Mackintosh, Kira Sternbach and David Morrissey.
Then Duet for One sees Juliet Stevenson and Henry Goodman support one another in this moving play by Tom Kempinski. Playing at The Almeida between January 22nd and March 14th, Duet for One focusses on the life of celebrated concert violinist 'Stephanie Abrahams' as she is diagnosed as suffering from multiple sclerosis. Consulting therapy with 'Dr Feldmann', this two-hander then revolves around the fact that Stephanie must now consider for the first time a future without music.
From March 19th until May 9th the Almeida is then set to take on the European premiere of Jez Butterworth's Parlour Song. An intriguing comedy about suburban relationships, Parlour Song received its world premiere at the Atlantic Theatre in New York earlier this year.
Other plays that are set to run at the Almeida in 2009 are as follows:
- When the Rain Stops Falling (May 14th - July 4th)
- Judgement Day (September 4th - October 17th)
- A Quiet Island (October 22nd - December 5th)
- Rope (December 10th - January 30th, 2010)
- Measure for Measure (Dates TBC)
