Encapsulating the musical explosion that took place in the 1960's, Hairspray has all types of music from rock and roll to soul and blues. Based on the 1988 cult classic film by John Waters, it has an original score by Marc Shaiman with lyrics by Scott Wittman. It won 8 Tony Awards in 2003, including Best Musical.
